Just an update on how we performed at yesterdays finals, albeit a bad memory for some of
us!
On a tricky rink, the triples, Peter Warren, Vic Greenberg and Garry Warrender were
narrowly beaten by
Rosedale by 3 shots. The game could have gone either way, as nobody had a consistently
good game.
The midday session saw the Fours, Alan Gibbs, Vic Greenberg, Mick Milne and
Garry Warrender playing
Rosedale again, but this time it was a different story! 11 shots down after 3 ends, we were
totally outplayed
by the opposition. The game ended early with a 32-7 defeat. A lay down in a darkened
room was required!
At the same time as the above rout was taking place, our New Thurgood team, consisting
of Peter Warren, Dave Cornish, Tony Deane, Mick Howett, Geoff Butt, Alan Beeson,
Michael Rhodes and Allen Brandford were playing against a full strength Buntingford side,
fresh from their win in the New Lyndhurst 2 Triples final half an hour earlier! The boys put
up a gallant fight, but were eventually well beaten on both rinks.
Well done to all those who took part in the games yesterday, and to everyone who has put
their names on the nomination cards throughout the season. We can't play the games
without your willingness to play.
A win in the Scott Blain Final, losing finalists in yesterdays New Thurgood Final and
Quarter Finalists in both the County Team Ten and the Ranson Cup is something that we
as a Club should all be proud of, bearing in mind the relatively small squad of players that
we have.
The only outside event left that we have an interest in is the Bowls League finals at
Cheshunt BC next Sunday.
Our Fours, consisting of Alan Gibbs, Vic Greenberg, Mick Howett and Mick Milne are
playing at 10am. We will be defending our title as current Bowls League Fours Champions. Lets hope we play better than Yesterday!
Best regards,
Vic.
