Message from Bert Millington on Car parking
21 Feb 2011
Messsage from Bert Millington
Dear All
Last week Colin Tolley, our greenkeeper was challenged about his car being parked at Wallfields without a parking card on display.
Since he is
usually
the only person connected with Wallfields Bowls who parks there in the morning, we have not required him to
sign in and display a card. It now appears that more rigourous checks are being undertaken in readiness for the transfer of staff
later in the year. It is no doubt also a response to my conversation with Martin Shrosbree regarding parking by pupils from Richard Hale
School and some staff from County Hall. I am now trying negotiate for Colin Tolley an arrangement that does not take one of our all-ted
spaces.
We do not yet know what arrangements Martin will wish to put in place once staff have transferred from Bishops Stortford. It is important
therefore that we stick closely to the agreement which is currently in force. Please make sure that you sign in and display one of the cards
whenever you are visiting the clubhouse before 4.00 p.m. It is essential that we use the allocated spaces rather than the "free" ones
belonging to Bentley House. Unless we make use of our allocation we might give the impression that we do not need the spaces. This applies
to all activities and committee meetings during the week including the Quilting Group on Monday afternoons and the Whist Group on Thursdays.
Next month I hope to be able to arrange a meeting with Martin to review progress of the work on the Wallfields offices and to get an idea
of what he has in mind for the parking arrangements during the bowling season. Naturally we shall be arguing for no less than we had last
year but he will be faced with an increased demand for places from EHDC staff.
I am copying this to Alan who might wish to post it on to Castle members.
