Winter Quilts and Summer Bowls
What have green bowling and quilting got in common? Bowling ladies from Hertford Castle Bowls Club and Hertford Bowls Club (both clubs bowling at Wallfields in Hertford) have proven that they are competent at both. When the summer season of friendly and competitive bowls finished they set to work and made a colourful quilt to raise funds for 2011. Raffle tickets for the quilt will be sold during the summer season and drawn at the end of August. From bottom left around the quilt, Mary Edgar, Audrey Crowther, Linda Buttle, Corrine Greenberg, (non-quilter Jacqui Adam, Ladies Captain for Hertford Castle), Eileen Smith, Sheila Watkiss, Pat Beeson, Joan Cable and others spent enjoyable hours over the winter months working together on the quilt. Well done, ladies!
April 31st sees the start of a new season of bowls on the green. All non-bowlers or anyone wishing to give bowling a try will be made very welcome to our OPEN DAY on May 1st, 10.00am to 4.00pm, when Club members, along with our Club Coach, will be on hand to assist.
