As I am sure you will agree the green this season is not bowling at its best despite the work carried out during the closed season, those of you who have been bowling on opponents’ greens will realise, I hope, that others are suffering too. The groundsman will continue to do all he can to improve the green as the season progresses.

Early on in the season we had problems with the sprinkler system, which have now been resolved and we all know the damage the foxes are doing to the green.

I will be calling a meeting of the greens committee including CollinTuley (the groundsman) early in August to discuss a plan of action for the closed season which may include some sub-contract work if necessary.

We will inform you all after the meeting of our plan of action for the closed season and we hope to improve things for next season.

We realise it is frustrating at times if you get a bad rink but remember it is just as bad for your opponents.
